Mana Sharki, a Dalit ward member of Naraharinath Rural Municipality-9 in Kalikot district, was beaten to death in her own house. She was elected as a ward member representing the CPN-UML. Mana was brutally attacked by three women from the same village and lost her life.
The attack was reportedly motivated by caste-based hatred, as she was accused of having an affair with a non-Dalit man. Mana Sharki was a mother of six children. Her murder is a tragic example of how caste and gender discrimination intersect in acts of violence.
