Anandi Devi Sada, a 24-year-old woman from the Musahar community of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality, Siraha, was found dead in her home on Baishakh 2, 2082.In mid-December, Anandi Devi reported an attempted sexual assault by two local men while visiting Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality. Her family approached the Area Police Office in Maheshpur Patari the same day, but the police refused to register the complaint and instead pressured them to resolve the case through a financial settlement involving local officials.
The complaint was registered more than two months later, on Falgun 25, only after the family threatened to go to the media. Although the Siraha District Court issued arrest warrants, the accused were not arrested. Despite being reportedly present in the village, police cited delays and continued to engage with the family without taking action.
